After our one-time mission in Idomeni / Greece, our work on the Greek island of Chios became our first long-term project. Now we work there since January 2016. Initially, it was all about providing scared, dehydrated, undercooled and hungry refugees with the essentials past their Mediterranean crossing, shortly after their arrival on the coast. Due to a non-existent logistics and warehouse concept, we were rarely able to find the right size of suitable clothing in acute situations. We therefore developed a functioning system for the warehouse, where donations in kind from all over the world were finally collected on site, sorted and systematically distributed to those in need. We also took care of a soup kitchen. In 2019, we helped by purchasing tents for families on the Greek island of Chios who had previously had to sleep outside in freezing temperatures and rain.
