STELP founder Serkan Eren is visiting Lebanon again this year to mark the anniversary of the devastating explosion in Beirut harbour. The visit serves not only to commemorate the victims of the disaster, but also to prepare our local partners for a possible escalation of the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel. STELP has been active in Lebanon for over four years and is providing valuable support in the crisis-ridden country in terms of restoring infrastructure, providing medical care and distributing food in Syrian and Palestinian refugee camps.
During his current mission, Serkan Eren will visit the STELP-funded medical centre in Mjadyel, a Christian village in southern Lebanon that is predominantly surrounded by the Hezbollah militia. He will also be involved in food distributions in camps for refugees on the Syrian border in northern Lebanon and in camps for Palestinians around Beirut. Another aim of his visit is to work with our partners to evaluate how we can best support the civilian population in the event of an escalation of the Middle East conflict and the spread of the war to Lebanon.
