STELP is helping since
2022
In the Himalayan country of Nepal, approximately 2.3 million Nepalese people lack access to clean drinking water.
At a primary school in Devgaun (Parasi), located near the Indian border, we, together with NIDISI and other partners, have established a water treatment facility.
Since June 2022, a truck, funded by STELP, has been in operation there. Since the facility produces more drinking water than is needed by the school children, thanks to the new truck, we can finally provide access to clean drinking water to families in the vicinity of the school as well. Local residents now load the truck with water containers and supply clean water to the surrounding villagers.
Alongside the water distribution in “deposit containers,” our partner NIDISI has also introduced a deposit system, creating additional job opportunities. The project is able to cover its incurred costs through the sale of water. NIDISI provides targeted training to local staff members who are responsible for the maintenance and operation of the filtration systems.
The construction of energy self-sufficient, economically sustainable water centers with modern water treatment systems is a small but significant contribution towards a fairer and healthier world.
