When the economy and healthcare system of Venezuela collapsed in 2015, over five million Venezuelans fled to the border regions. According to UNHCR, considering these numbers, it is currently the largest migration crisis in the world. The situation of Venezuelan women is particularly distressing in this context. Human rights activists report a significant increase in sexual assaults and human trafficking, as well as a rising rate of abortions. That is why we have concentrated on providing medical care for these vulnerable people in Colombia.
