Together with Waisenkinder Tansania e. V., we are building a baby orphanage in Tanzania, where 20 babies will have a sheltered childhood – anything but a matter of course for orphans in Tanzania: they are among the weakest members of society and often live in extremely unfavourable conditions. This makes it all the more significant that the babies are about to move into the orphanage in Mkenge.
Construction of the kitchen foundation began at the end of January and the entire building was completed by March. Last week, the painters were finally able to start painting the kitchen, and the doors and kitchen furniture are currently being installed. As soon as the kitchen is finished, the babies can finally move in – as you can see from the photos, their rooms are already ready.
In addition to the construction of the baby orphanage, we also support the operation of existing orphanages in Mwandege, which are also run by our partners from Orphans Tanzania. Tanzania was hit by heavy rains in spring, causing severe, life-threatening flooding and extensive damage. An orphanage and the belongings of the orphans living there were also damaged by the storms. With our support, however, the roof of the house was quickly repaired, mold was removed and new clothes were provided for the children.
