The Roma are the second largest ethnic minority in Romania and many of them live in Transylvania, including in the Sibiu region. Many families still suffer from poverty and live in difficult conditions. The prejudices that prevail against them do not make these conditions any easier. Some families live in makeshift dwellings without access to basic infrastructure such as running water or electricity. These living conditions make it difficult for children to attend school regularly and integrate into society.
