Since the Taliban came to power, women and girls in Afghanistan have been systematically oppressed and excluded from the public sphere. According to the UN, around 11.8 million women and girls have no access to vital support. In particular, the suspension of most international aid projects after the Taliban took power has hit thousands of families, widows and orphans outside the major cities particularly hard. We therefore focus our support primarily on these vulnerable population groups. In December 2021, June 2022, November 2023 and December 2024, STELP founder Serkan travelled to Afghanistan with a small aid team and organized distributions of relief supplies with local partners on the ground.
