We are now active on four continents and in 15 countries. Our goal: to help as quickly and efficiently as possible. How does this work? Thanks to our partners in the countries where we are active! They speak the local language, are well networked, have important contacts and, above all, they are always on site. To get to know our so-called “Supporters on Site” better, we will introduce them to you in our new interview series.
One of them is Boubker Benanni, chairman of the Alofoq Charity Association, whose most recent priority has been crisis aid in Morocco.
STELP: Introduce yourself briefly: Who are you and in which country do you work with STELP?
Boubker: My name is Boubker Bennani, chairman of the organization “Alofoq” in Morocco. We are working with STELP to help villagers affected by the earthquakes that struck Morocco on September 8. I would like to emphasize that STELP was one of the first organizations to join us on the ground. Together we did great work by visiting several affected villages and bringing various relief supplies such as tents, blankets, food, clothing, etc. In this way, we were able to ease the pain for many of those affected. We know that people in the villages have lost all their homes and families. It was very emotional, but together I think we did a great job. Thank you, STELP.
STELP: How did your NGO come to work with STELP?
Boubker: We knew STELP thanks to another German organization (Helping Hands Africa) with whom we have been working for several years, and this year we had our first experience of working directly with STELP. All I can say is that it was an excellent experience and we felt like we had been working together for several years. The ambassador of STELP who accompanied us (Oona) was very professional and had a lot of experience, which made the work easy and efficient.
STELP: How does your NGO work and in what areas?
Boubker: We are a team of volunteers and work in all areas that can give people a smile and relieve pain. We try to be with our partners and supporters like STELP where the need is greatest. There is much to do, much joy to spread. Our main task is to be present in the right place at the right time with the right team to achieve the desired results.
STELP: What is your personal motivation for doing what you do?
Boubker: In my opinion, the most important thing in life is to help people, animals… We help where and how we can, and it’s better when you can help with a great team and partner. It’s more motivating and efficient, and when we achieve our goals, it gives us a feeling that’s hard to describe…. I recommend everyone to give it a try, but most importantly, find a good team to work with.
STELP: Which part of the aid project is most important to you personally and why?
Boubker: Anything that makes people happy and gives them a smile is important to me. Taking care of orphans, helping on site, health care… bringing joy to people – this is my most important task.
STELP: Do you have a life motto?
Boubker: The happiest person is the one who makes others happy.
