Our founder and 1st board member Serkan Eren arrived in the disaster areas yesterday.
In the meantime, we have set up our base in Adana from where we operate. According to Serkan, Adana is the last city before the disaster region where the supply chains are still functioning. Here we buy relief supplies such as blankets, water, hygiene items, nappies and baby food and travel from there to the affected areas. Yesterday, Serkan was in Hatay.
He reports from on site: “Hatay was hit extremely hard and hardly any help has arrived here so far. The city is effectively no longer there. The few buildings that are still standing are in danger of collapsing. They were catastrophic images. People have tried to search for their relatives with their hands in the debris. We saw countless bodies, it was, to describe it in one word, catastrophic.”
On site, we are currently unable to plan for the long term and must continue to act spontaneously. Serkan loaded a truck with relief supplies again today in Adana and is on his way to Gaziantep to supply as many people there as possible.
We do our best! Thank you for your donations and for your support!
