Due to the earthquake disaster more than a year ago, many children and young people in Turkey are still living in difficult conditions, partly because most of the schools and kindergartens were destroyed. They spend a lot of time in cramped tents or temporary accommodation, which not only severely affects their mental stability and development opportunities, but also their educational opportunities.
In order to give the children who have already lost everything in the earthquake a perspective for a better future, we are supporting our partners from the ISS network in Samandag in building a multilingual daycare center for 100 children aged one to six. In addition to group rooms, there will also be a music room, a library, a studio, a workshop and quiet rooms.
Unfortunately, obtaining approval for the building project took longer than originally planned. But now the site has been prepared, the essential infrastructure has been built and the foundation stone has been laid. We recently received the first pictures showing the struts of the outer walls. Construction is finally in full swing!
By the way: A second daycare center is also being planned.
