Although Tanzania has made great strides in recent years, access to legal assistance remains severely limited, especially for marginalized groups and people in rural areas. As a result, cases of gender-based violence, land disputes, and labor rights violations often remain unresolved.
Further training for legal assistants in Tanzania
Together with our partner organization AJISO, we want to change that. In the Kilimanjaro region, we support the further training of around 140 legal assistants, focusing on refresher courses and practical support. The aim is to improve access to legal aid, reduce inequalities, and empower people to assert their rights with confidence.
The first training sessions took place in the Rombo district last November. Further training courses will follow in Moshi this year. At the same time, easy-to-understand information materials are being compiled, which will be distributed in all communities in the future.
