In the Himalayan country of Nepal, approximately 2.3 million Nepalese people lack access to clean drinking water. In addition, one in four people lives in extreme poverty. Many children are forced to work under dangerous conditions, and numerous families have lost their homes due to recurring earthquakes and floods. Some have been living in tents or corrugated-iron shacks ever since. Girls, in particular, are often at risk of child labor, early marriage, and being sold into brothels in India. Through various organizations, we support both water supply projects and a children’s home to help children in need above all else.
Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion / Wasser-, Sanitärversorgung und Hygienenaufklärung (WASH)
- Construction of a water treatment plant at an elementary school in Devgaun in cooperation with NIDISI
- Assumption of the costs for water testing, water tanks and the renovation of the water center
- Support for the restoration and maintenance of a water center that supplies drinking water to approximately 2,000 households and more than 400 schoolchildren
