Donation for Burundi
Burundi is one of the poorest countries in the world. Almost two-thirds of the people live below the poverty line. The civil war (1993-2005) left a severe mark on the country, and the consequences are still felt today. Economic development is significantly affected by ongoing political uncertainty and recurring crop failures caused by climate change. Most people in Burundi live from agriculture, so their small farms in particular are vulnerable to extreme weather events such as droughts and floods. In May 2024, torrential rains and severe flooding caused devastating damage. Hundreds of thousands of people had to leave their homes, streets, fields and entire cities were under water. STELP founder Serkan Eren was on site with a team to provide emergency aid. In another project, we want to offer women long-term support.
This is how we provide local support:
We are supporting 200 Burundian women in establishing their independence and have also provided around 1,220 Burundian children with a comprehensive school package.
