After months of fighting in eastern DR Congo, the government and the M23 rebels have now agreed to a ceasefire. The African Union calls this a “significant development,” and we too hope that this step will bring long-term peace and stability.
Learning team spirit and self-confidence through fun and games
Our project in Uvira, which had to be temporarily suspended due to the escalation of fighting, has been running again for several weeks now. Together with our local partners at Inua Congo, we have now completed the first coaching phase: over 100 vulnerable children took part in workshops focusing on sports and games. In addition to physical exercise, the main focus was on team spirit, self-confidence, and mutual respect.

Now the children are passing on their knowledge to others: they organize small games in their communities, exchange experiences, and bring movement to places where there was previously stagnation. Accompanied by various coaches, rope jumping, soccer, and traditional games create genuine encounters between equals.
